Report of Activities in 2002
- Two symposia were organized at the XII World Congress of Psychiatry in Yokohama: 1) Health promotion and comprehensive treatment; 2) Prevention of negative consequences of mental disorders.
- The Section participated in an Intersectional symposium of the World Congress.
- The Consensus Statement on Prevention, prepared by the Section, has been adopted at the WPA General Assembly.
- The Section contributed by a chapter in a book "Recent Advances in Psychiatry", edited by Prof. George Christodoulou. The book comprises contributions from all the sections and is now at the WPA website.
- During the XII. World Congress the business meeting of the Section was held. New elections have been organized, according to the WPA Statute. Rachel Jenkins and Dusica Lecic-Tosevski were re-elected for co-chair and chair. Prof. Sadanand Rajkumar has been elected for the new secretary of the Section. New members have been accepted: Helen Herman, Margit Schmolke, Shekhar Saxena and Andrej Marusic. Its is hoped that these distinguished professionals will significantly contribute to our future work.
