We are pleased to announce the forthcoming celebration of the Thematic Conference of the WPA which will be held on 8-11 February 2012 in the Science Park (Parque de las Ciencias) in Granada, Spain.
This conference is sponsored by the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) in close collaboration with WONCA and the Spanish Neuropsychiatric Association (AEN), and amongst others, with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), the World Association of Social Psychiatry, the Latin American Psychiatric Association (APAL) and the Maristan Network.
Mental health service users worldwide deserve the best possible management and interventions to achieve the best possible outcomes. This Second Thematic Conference will further strengthen the collaboration between primary and secondary care organizations working in the field of mental health for the benefit of those people affected by mental ill health, including their families and careers. The best possible outcomes can only be achieved through collaboration and working together.
We are aware of the changing nature of our societies and all the questions they result in. New realities demand new studies, perspectives and approaches from all health professionals. So the interrelation among them becomes a must on which this conference builds on.
The Scientific Program includes the following topics: Gender and mental health, Migration and Mental disorders, Co morbidity, Eating disorders including Obesity, Suicide Prevention, Dual Pathology and Substance Misuse, Domestic Violence and others representing different fields of Mental Health and Family Medicine.
World renowned experts in the field of psychiatry and mental health are invited to give key lectures. In addition, the program will include Regular Symposia, Satellite Symposia and Workshops. In addition to all this, we would like to invite young scholars and students to take part in the celebration of this professional meeting. For that purpose we have some space for Poster and Oral Presentations reserved. We would like to cover all Public Services related to Mental Health delivery by widening our professional attendees’ spectrum to not only General Practitioners and Mental Health Professionals, but to Social Service Providers, occupational therapists, counselors, students and other allied health professionals.
Deadline for submission of abstracts and symposia / workshop proposals is 31th October 2011.
The official language will be English, although some activities will be conducted in Spanish. Simultaneous translation into Spanish will be available for Key Conferences and Key Speakers.
