II National Congress of Dual Pathology and Addictive Behaviors, Coimbra, Portugal
The 2nd National Congress of Dual Pathology and Addictive Behaviors was held at Coimbra, Portugal on 8-10 February 2012, getting together 290 professionals who work with dual pathology patients, including psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, nurses, social workers and rehabilitation professionals. The event was organized by the Portuguese Association of Dual Pathology (APPD) and by the Addiction Service (AD) of the psychiatric hospital, Hospital Sobral Cid, Coimbra to divulge and discuss the etiological, clinical, therapeutic and rehabilitation aspects of the dual pathology in the patient where psychiatric illness and substance use disorder coexistence. Present at the congress were investigators from the medical school of Coimbra and Oporto, Spanish specialists from the Spanish Society of Dual Pathology (SEPD), a republic prosecutor discussing legal aspects and psychiatry and primary care specialists.
The APPD, founded in November 2010, has developed a large number of formation events promoting and improving the care to patients with dual pathology.
