Over 1,040 delegates attended The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists’ 47th annual Congress in Hobart from 20 to 24 May 2012. With a theme of ‘Cells, Circuits and Syndromes’, the Congress covered mental health across the ages from birth to old age and across specialties, disorders and cultures.
Internationally eminent keynote speakers presented on a diverse range of mental health issues and included Prof. Edward Bullmore (UK), Prof. Ulrik Malt (Norway), Prof. Robert Ursano (USA), Prof. Trevor Young (Canada), Prof. Mark Solms (South Africa), Associate Prof. Frances Thomson-Salo (Australia), Prof. Michael Berk (Australia) and Prof. Gerard Byrne (Australia).
Next year the RANZCP Congress will be held in Sydney from 26 to 30 May 2013 with a theme of ‘Achievements and Aspirations’ and WPA members are warmly invited to attend. This promises to be an exciting event as it also celebrates the 50th anniversary of the College, with a vibrant program and various social events set in the beautiful surrounds of Sydney Harbour.
