The WPA Section on Clinical Psychopathology has participated in the Third (III) Congress of Psychiatrists of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The congress, organized by the Psychiatric Association of Bosnia-Herzegovina (PABH), took place in Tuzla on October 12-15, 2012 and strongly emphasized the importance of psychopathology for improving the quality of care and shared decision-making.
The section contributed to the main theme of the congress (“Psychiatry between Phenomenology and Neuroscience”) offering an overview of contemporary phenomenological approaches to the subjective experience of vulnerability in schizophrenia. Furthermore the section was involved in a focussed training course on psychosis-proneness and its clinical assessment promoted as itinerant CME course by the European Psychiatric Association (EPA).
After the congress, the Section will cooperate with the Psychiatric Association of Bosnia-Herzegovina (PABH) to capitalize on current Bosnia and Herzegovina Mental Health Care reform. The specific focus of the collaboration will be to facilitate international knowledge-transfer and promote the development of suitable clinical-care pathways for the early identification and treatment psychosis.
