Dual Disorders/Pathology

Under the Patronage of the WPA Section on Dual Disorders/Pathology

The National Annual Meeting (SEPD) on Dual Pathology in its 14th edition took place in Madrid on 25-27 October 2012, with over 900 registered participants.

For the first time the scientific programme has been modified, and instead of offering a closed ready-made programme, it has been open to proposals, asking professionals to send their works in order to make the programme more interesting and dynamic than in previous years.

The responsibility of the meeting has been shared by Dr. Nestor Szerman as President of the Organizing Committee and Prof. Miguel Casas as Chair of the Scientific Programme.

Over 70 sessions took place: 11 Lectures, 33 Symposia, 6 workshops, 5 oral communications, 5 satellite symposia and 2 Meet the Experts, as well as 2 presentations on clinical cases, one debate and the presentation of two books dealing with dual pathologies; a tight schedule in which it was difficult to choose.

The organizers had received over 42 oral communications, 97 posters and over 113 clinical cases for presentations.

The scientific rigor which is demanded for these meetings has made it possible to obtain, once again, the scientific backing of NIDA, which co-sponsors our scientific meetings as a clear recognition to the SEPD work, pioneer at an international level for Dual Pathology updating and training.

We are proud of having, once again, Prof. Pedro Ruiz, President of the WPA at our meeting, together with the most relevant national and international leaders on Dual Pathology.

To mention but a few of the many relevant speakers: Prof. Pedro Ruiz, Dr. Nora Volkow, Prof. Roger Weiss, Prof. Celso Arango, Prof. Juan Jose Lopez-Ibor, and Prof. Miguel Casas.
