WPA Zone 10 (Eastern Europe)

The Second Meeting of the Presidents of the WPA Zone 10 Psychiatric Societies took place in Kharkov, Ukraine on October 4, 2012. The Meeting was attended by the Presidents of most Psychiatric Societies of the East European WPA Region: Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia (RSP and IPA), and Ukraine. The Representatives of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan had been invited but were unable to attend the Meeting.

After welcoming the participants, the WPA Zonal Representative Prof. Petr Morozov informed the Presidents about the development of the WPA Zone 10 Action Plan. Participants discussed the following items: educational seminars for young psychiatrists, creation of the “bank” of psychiatric journals of WPA Zone 10 for direct exchange of materials by editors, translation of the WPA journal “World Psychiatry” into Russian, organization of a series of Symposia “20 Years After-Psychiatry in Post-Soviet Space” with participation of the Psychiatric Leaders of the WPA Zone 10, transcultural collaborative project, prepared by Belarusian psychiatrists. A scientific Symposium “Mental Health Services in Post-Soviet Space”, organized by the WPA Zonal Representative, took place within the framework of the 4th Ukrainian Congress of neurologists, psychiatrists and narcologists.

The Third Meeting of the Presidents of the WPA Zone 10 Psychiatric Societies will take place on May 28-29, 2013 in Almaty (Kazakhstan), and further, at the end of August 2013 in Yerevan (Armenia).
