Geneva time / time in WPA

“They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.” (Andy Warhol, 1977)

Geneva is well known for centuries of its precise clocks. Geneva’s “L’horloge fleurie” is a symbol of the city’s clockmakers and dedication to nature. At the same time, it symbolizes the balance between continuity and renewal. While its flow reflects the continuity of life, its flowers are renewed each time as the seasons of the year change.

Time in WPA runs in trienniums in line with the World Congresses of Psychiatry. After the successful World Congress of Psychiatry of Buenos Aires in 2011, this year, psychiatrists of the world are expected to attend the World Congress of Psychiatry 2014 in Madrid. More information is on the congress website: www.wpamadrid2014.com

This issue of WPA News, again, covers the activities of the WPA Components in a balanced manner. They are not merely news items informing us about the activities across the world but also signs of continuity and renewal in WPA. Furthermore, your contributions highlight the core values of WPA: internationalism and solidarity. These core values construct the identity and image of the association.

High professional ethical standards, high quality scientific research, good clinical praxis, comprehensive and non-discriminatory mental health services and training programmes across the world could become concrete ambitions only through solidarity and internationalism.

We are pleased that WPA News increases the visibility of these genuine assets of WPA, and would like to kindly ask you to contribute to the continuity and renewal of our core values.
