WPA member associations in Africa within the three WPA African Zones - Zone 11, 13 and 14 will organize a Scientific symposium titled Primary Care Mental Health in AFRICA at Bucharest in June 24-28 , 2015 to discuss the integration of primary care in mental health services in African countries .
Bernard Rensburg (President-Elect SASOP) and Ahmed Okasha (President Egyptian Psychiatric Association ) suggested Pan African Psychiatric Association hoping to activate member societies in Africa which is currently having a modest impact.
Regarding the human tragedy unfolding in the Mediterranean in North Africa, Nigeria and Arab countries, we have planned to convene trans-Zonal activities with middle east Zone 12, represented by Walid Sarhan. We have worked with the Psychiatrists in the ministry of Health and Army Forces to set clinical guidelines for management of emergency situations of post-traumatic stress , violence and suicide .
