It followed the successful Healthier, Longer Lives for People with Serious Mental Illness Conference held in November last year in New York City, and co-sponsored by WPA as well as the WHO Department of Mental Health and the Global Mental Health Program at Columbia University.
The roundtable discussion reviewed developments emerging from the Conference, which included the creation of an international community of researchers, practitioners, policymakers, philanthropists and persons with lived experiences committed to act and encourage investments to improve and extend the lives of people with serious mental illness and advance community mental health programs globally.
Also touched on were the WHO Guidelines on management of physical health conditions in adults with severe mental disorders. WPA committed to promote the use of these guidelines through dissemination to its members and the broader psychiatric community.
