The Disorders of Intellectual Development course is a six part series on the Psychiatry of Disorders of Intellectual Development.
The Disorders of Intellectual Development course developed by Prof Ashok Roy (Consultant Psychiatrist for people with Disorders of Intellectual Development, Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust, UK, Past Chair, Faculty of Intellectual Disability Psychiatry, Royal College of Psychiatrists, UK and Co-Chair, Working Group on Psychiatry of DID, WPA) and Dr Rachel Lee, (Consultant Psychiatrist for Adults with Intellectual Disability, Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Partnership Trust, UK).
The six sections are each focused on a particular area related to Psychiatry of Disorders of Intellectual Development (DID), including:
Section 1: An introduction to Disorders of Intellectual Development (DID) and how it fits in with ICD-11.
Section 2: The causes of Disorders of Intellectual Development (DID) as well as genetic syndromes and other factors associated with DID.
Section 3: An overview of common neurodevelopmental disorders
Section 4: Explores epilepsy which is a common co-morbidity in people with Disorders of Intellectual Development (DID).
Section 5: Physical health problems and aging in people with Disorders of Intellectual Development (DID).
Section 6: The role of the psychiatrist and the multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
Developed for medically qualified practitioners, this resource aims to further strengthen learners’ knowledge of this important area. The course will also be of benefit to other professional groups interested in this important area.
