About

Welcome to the HIV/AIDS Psychiatry Section Website, officially recognized by the WPA in 2012 as an evolution of the Organization of AIDS Psychiatry (OAP), established in 2003. Dedicated to supporting mental health clinicians caring for individuals with HIV/AIDS, our Section emphasizes Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry and Integrative Care. We encourage collaboration and communication through our listserv and quarterly virtual meetings, extending a warm invitation to mental health professionals in HIV psychiatry, particularly those in underserved areas.

Our focus encompasses the prevention, care, and treatment of individuals with HIV/AIDS, addressing psychiatric dimensions such as risk behaviors, manifestations, and stigma. We emphasize the psychological repercussions, advocating for comprehensive prevention, care, and adherence strategies. Various organizations promote international collaboration, facilitating academic content creation on HIV/AIDS Psychiatry. Exceptional assistance, including PowerPoint presentations, literature references, and email notifications, is readily available for those who join our Section.
