The Section on Mental Health Economics of the World Psychiatric Association aims to promote the development and integration of crucially needed scientific information about the socio-economic burden of mental and addictive disorders, and about the consequences of clinical, social, and financial interventions aimed at psychiatric prevention, care and rehabilitation on patients, family caregivers, workplace and society.
The activities of the WPA Section on Mental Health Economics include academic multidisciplinary research publication, international workshops for the presentation and discussion of new high quality research, and symposia during the WPA congresses. The main objective of the Section on Mental Health Economics is the promotion of the collaboration between multiple research fields to enhance the health and economic well-being of the individuals with mental and addictive disorders and of the society as a whole.
