As we near the end of day one, I would like to take a minute and offer everyone one a very warm welcome to the 21st World Psychiatric Association’s (WPA) World Congress of Psychiatry (WCP21).
It has been a fantastic day and we are delighted to see so many fellow mental health care professionals joining us for our Congress. Our theme for this week is “New World, New Challenges for Psychiatry & Mental Health”, which underlines the struggles we have all faced over the last couple of years during the pandemic and highlights some of the new innovative ways we have embraced to overcome some of these challenges.
Over the next few days, we will examine and discuss all the crucial issues in psychiatry and mental health. In addition, our extensive scientific programme, with numerous keynote lectures, sessions, symposia, courses and activities, will share our current scientific and technological revolution. With over 2500 participants from 108 countries, we will all be able to benefit from up-to-date research data, the best lectures from experts in all fields of mental health, high-quality scientific content, high-value interactions between mental health & social care professionals, patients and careers, and relevant peer-to-peer networking.
I am very much looking forward to the next couple of days and am confident that this will be another important and valuable scientific online meeting adding a lot to the psychiatric and mental health knowledge.
