On Saturday 15 Febraury, the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) in partnership with Sidra Medicine, Qatar Medical Students’ Association (QMSA), and Weill Cornell Medicine - Qatar (WCM-Q) will host the first Medical Students Conference on Psychiatry and Mental Health in Qatar.

The Conference has three primary objectives:

  2. To introduce psychiatry as a multi-disciplinary profession and provide insight for attendees considering it as a possible career path; and

  3. To foster an innovative hub of discussion and learning for healthcare students in the region.

The Qatar event is the first of three conferences currently planned for medical students, with the next meeting taking place in Pakistan on 21 February 2020 and the third being hosted in Turkey on 5 April 2020.

The development of these innovative conferences is led by a WPA working group on Capacity Building through Promotion of Psychiatry among Medical Students and link to WPA's upcoming 2020-2023 Action Plan.
