World Psychiatric Association (WPA) and Affiliated Society, The SAARC Psychiatry Federation (SPF) announce a fellowship (Travel Award) for Undergraduate Medical Students to attend the WPA Regional Congress in Kolkata, India.
The WPA and SPF have announced a fellowship (Travel Award) for Undergraduate Medical Students to attend the WPA Regional Congress in Kolkata, India later this year (14th‑16th April 2023).
This prestigious award is open to all undergraduate Medical Students that are presently studying in any of the SAARC countries (evidence of student status will be required – e.g., student card etc.). Students are invited to submit a video on the theme of “Importance of Psychiatry in the Medical Field” drawing from their own life/patient/training experience.
The guidelines for the video are:
The title of the story can be different from the theme (create your own title), but the message of the submission must reflect the contest’s theme.
Videos must be in .MOV or .MP4 format and in the English language
Files should be no larger than 500MB and no longer than 120 seconds in length
Only videos taken on a video camera or phone are eligible
Each participant can submit only one video clip per entry
Files and participant details should be uploaded to https://wetransfer.com/ and sent to medicalstudents@wparc2023.com
The lucky winner will win a prize of 10,000 Indian Rupee (INR). In addition, the Congress registration fee will be waived, free accommodation will be provided and the winning entry will be published on the SPF website.
With the Theme “BUILDING AWARENESS, BRIDGING TREATMENT GAPS” this congress will build the experiences of WPA’s 2020-2023 Action Plan and will include recent updates in different disciplines related to mental health. The Congress will highlight the importance of bringing together the psychiatrists and other mental health professionals on board to discuss topics of mutual interest. This will also provide a forum for the voices of patients to be heard.
Delegates and the winning trainee will certainly profit from up-to-date research data, the best lectures from experts in all fields of mental health, high-quality scientific content, interaction between mental health and other health and social care professionals, patients and carers, and relevant peer-to-peer networking.
Kolkata, nicknamed the “City of Joy”, is considered the cultural capital of India and is located on the beautiful east bank of the Hooghly River. In addition to attending a high-quality scientific meeting, the winner will have the chance to enjoy this stunning part of the world.
